About

A small warm game idea that slowly moved away from action and towards comfort.
Ducky HD-2.5D started as a small prototype around 2D characters in a 3D environment. At first the idea was much more action-focused, but over time it moved into a softer direction.
The current idea is a tiny café game. Guests arrive, order something, sit down for a while and make the place feel alive. I want the loop to feel calm and cozy instead of stressful or overly optimized.

A small day and night cycle

The island can slowly move through different times of day. This helps me test how the café, water and small environment details feel in softer light, darker nights and warmer evening moods.

Warm, tiny and nice to return to

The game should feel like a small place you can come back to. Gentle movement, cozy lighting, little routines and cute moments are more important than challenge or speed.

Current Questions

A lot of the game is still open, so this page is mostly a place to collect direction and development notes. Some of the questions I am currently thinking about:
  • How slow and passive should the café loop be?
  • How much interaction should guests need?
  • What makes the café feel alive without becoming stressful?
  • How can the 2D/3D mix stay cute, readable and consistent?

This is still an early prototype. Nothing here is final yet — not the name, not the gameplay loop and not the visual style. I am slowly shaping it into something small, cozy and personal.
